If you want to be sure that our Common Council get the support they deserve,
and you want to be sure that we, as the citizens of Danbury, do not have to pay for late filings
and you want to be sure that the City Clerk is not spending time in Hartford in front of the FOI Board for not filing on time,
please donate to my candidacy for City Clerk.
The Role of City Clerk

The City Clerk works with the Mayor and the Common Council to serve the citizens of Danbury. The duties of the City Clerk, as defined in the City Charter, are to keep for public inspection copies of every proposed ordinance, and to maintain a record of all proceedings of the Common Council. Other aspects of this elected post include receiving claims and lawsuits against the City of Danbury as well as acting as the official tour guide for the hundreds of school children that annually tour City Hall.

The City Clerk of Danbury serves a term of two years. This year you will also be voting on a Charter Commission question. One of the changes being proposed is to have the City Clerk position become an appointment by the Mayor. Because the City Clerk works directly for the Common Council (City Council if the Charter Revision is passed), and is apponted by the Mayor, the City Clerk will often be caught in the middle of Council / Mayor discussions. This should be reviewed very carefully.
